(First Leg: Dinamo Tbilisi 0-5 Tottenham.)
We go into this game at the Lane with a more than comfortable lead. Europa League group stages are within touching distance. All we’ve got to do now is finish the job off. Nothing is impossible in football, but with the aggregate scoreline, this is as close as it gets to impossible for Tbilisi to turn this around. We destroyed them in the first leg, and another good win would be good for confidence, but this time I expect the youngsters to have a run out. I’m sure Tbilisi will go out there with nothing the lose, and try to get a win, which would only be consolation, so we’ll still have to be alert to the threat. Finishing off the job in style is needed.
A young team is what I expect. With the minor issue of the North London Derby coming up, we will have to rest our starters. With the big squad we have, there will be no problems in doing this, we should still get through. Tom Carroll deserves a chance, and so I expect him to get minutes against Tbilisi! Great passer of the ball, and a classy midfield player all round, who has been great so far for the U21’s. Also, Harry Kane deserves a start upfront. He has been scoring for fun for the U21’s and so I think he can show his worth against Tbilisi. Sandro should get back out there, which will increase his match fitness, as well as Younes Kaboul and Lewis Holtby. Should be a fairly easy game for us. The game is live on ITV 4, Thursday 29th August, coverage starts at 7:30pm. COYS!!
My predicted team to face Dinamo Tbilisi at the Lane:
Naughton – Dawson – Fryers – Rose
Townsend – Sandro – Carroll – Sigurdsson
